Our Story
Finding Our Haven
At West Haven Vineyards, our family endeavors to live in harmony with our community and our land, to invite others to make their connections into a haven of their own.

Our Roots
The story of West Haven Vineyards began in the autumn of 2019 as our large, blended family sought new opportunities and a way to change our busy, city lifestyle.
Many of us grew up in rural areas, loving the feeling of the quiet freedom that space in nature brings. All of us possessed a certain adventurousness that kept us searching for that elusive blend of challenge and rest. We had no idea how much of both we found when in early 2020 we discovered a hidden gem: A little, own-rooted vineyard in Dallas, Oregon with old vines that date back to the year 1976.
What we found was a vineyard with gentle hills that rose 560-640 feet above sea level just beyond the Van Duzer Corridor, brushed with cool and constant breezes. With neat rows of high-wire cordon trellis vines planted to face the eastern sky, its old roots dug deep into Jory, Suver and Bellpine soils that were perfect for retaining water to sustain its dry-farmed acres. Given intentional and responsible care, this vineyard had the potential to create sustainable, artisan fruit that is often picked at the perfect chemistry to make excellent boutique wine.
A Humble Beginning
Walking the beautiful grounds with former owner and steward, Ken Jacroux, a hopeful vision began to form. A vision to create a peaceful retreat in an often too busy world. A place where we could live quietly, work with our hands, and connect with people in meaningful ways. A place that would enhance precious memories for those who would hold their weddings here.
We fell in love with an enchanting vineyard and event grounds and threw caution to the wind. We pooled our resources, talents and collective sense of adventure, and moved from Portland to Dallas.

Thus the adventure of realizing our vision began as our family of novices were plunged into the trials of operating a business in 2020, along with the challenges that always come with trying something entirely new. However, even in the set-backs, glimpses of our vision began to form thanks to the contribution of those who came before us. The Oregon Viticulture and Wine industry is truly special, a community built upon a foundation of collaboration and integrity. Even as newcomers, we found ourselves surrounded by professionals who were willing to advise and train us in the timeless practice of viticulture. We were especially fortunate to have partnered with our Consulting Winemaker, Jerry Murray, with his wealth of experience and expertise in both viticulture and oenology. Equipped with our site’s excellent fruit and Jerry’s artful expertise, the West Haven team is excited to present their first vintages of wine, grown and crafted by hand every step of the way with loving care and intentionality.

find your haven.
